Specifics:

The Sand Castle Classic is a spirited competition between teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and a local elementary school to build giant theme-related 20'x20' sand sculptures. There are over 20 teams scheduled to compete in this year's competition. Thousands of people attend the event every year.
If you're interested:
Spectator -- the event draws a huge crowd to the beach and is a spectacle to behold -- everyone is welcome to come experience it. The best viewing is typically as the castles are taking shape, approximately 1-2pm. There will be a live band on site and a raffle. There is a central corridor that allows easy viewing of all the teams' work. It's a great place to spend an afternoon cruising the beach. The weather is typically very nice. This weekend also corresponds with Fleet Week and the Bluegrass festival in GG Park.
Destroyer -- show up at 3pm and you can be one of the people to demolish the work afterwards.
