Tempe Town Lake
Tempe, Arizona

Outrigger Teams from California, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona will compete in a full day of outrigger sprints and dragon boat races in this regionally sanctioned event.

Hula dancers, Hawaiian music, and “ono” Hawaiian food will attract and entertain the crowds on shore.

More than 300 paddlers competed last year with crowds of onlookers cheering from the shores of Town Lake and atop the Mill Avenue Bridge. This year promises to be even bigger!

Outrigger canoe paddling has long been a recognized sport within the Hawaiian culture with well-established traditions which promote the spirit of Aloha.

The Mission of the Tempe Town Lake Outrigger Canoe Association is to educate, promote, and encourage interest in the sport of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling for recreation and competition, emphasizing youth and community participation.

The Tempe Town Lake Outrigger Canoe Association was formed in 2006 by a partnership between the City of Tempe and the resident canoe clubs at Tempe Town Lake.
