Teatro Lirico D'Europa: Cavalleria & Pagliacci March 22, 2009

This evening of opera offers two one-act tales of love and betrayal. In 'Cavalleria Rusticana,' a young soldier, having seduced a now pregnant peasant girl, tries to take up with his old flame (now married). In 'I Pagliacci,' life imitates art as Canio replicates the vengeful scene he also acts out in a play about jealousy and betrayal. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.
