The most famous wines from the beautiful country of Portugal are the sweet Ports that are so loved by many, but recently dry table wines have begun to appear more and more in our marketplace. Some of these are indeed excellent, showcasing vibrant acidity and rich flavors extracted from grapes that few of us have heard of this side of the Atlantic. These are the wines that we will be featuring for our January wine dinner of Wednesday, January 11 2012.

Portugal is a land of contrast where food and wine have grown to be a fundamental part of the culture. Chef Joshua has reached out to the roots of Portuguese cuisine to bring you a meal rich in indigenous flavors.

Our host for the evening will be Helen Gallo Bryan of Winebow. Helen has been an integral part of the wine importing industry since 1989, and is currently the Vice President of the Northeast for Winebow. She is a recent graduate of Boston University Culinary School with a Masters in Gastronomy, and has a deep affinity for food and wine synergy.
