Tameside Armed Forces Day Celebrations will take place in Victoria Park, Denton on Saturday 26th June 2010 from 1.00pm - 4.00pm. The day will be an opportunity to show your support for the contribution made by all those who serve or have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

A short parade led by Adamson Military Band will depart at 1.00pm from Denton Town Hall and will make its way through Victoria Park to the park’s war memorial where a short service, led by the Reverend Shirley Harrison (Priest-in-Charge at Christ Church, Denton) will be held. During the afternoon there will be performances from the bandstand including the Adamson Military Band, War-time tribute singer Heather Marie, Rat pack tribute singer Frank Forde and Falklands veterans Andy Farrell and Darren Poyzer who will bring to the event a dramatic performance of poetry and song. Self-penned, powerful and emotionally driven, they deliver a vital and powerful insight into the human condition during the Falklands conflict.

Throughout the afternoon there will be a variety of free activities available including a climbing wall, face painting, clay modelling and craft activities with displays and demonstrations from The First World War Manchester Regiment Living History Group. Members of the Royal British Legion, local Scouts, Cubs and Girl Guides will also be present on the day.

Refreshments will be available during the afternoon from Victoria Park Community Centre.

Everyone welcome.
