The Tamburitza Extravaganza is an annual, national festival that is held in a different city each year. The Extravaganza offers four days of non-stop music and dance brought to you by the best tamburitza orchestras in North America. Tamburitza refers to the family of mostly flat-back acoustic stringed instruments indigenous to Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Vojvodina. A Tamburitza Orchestra consists of anywhere from 4 to several dozen musicians.

Twenty one orchestras from around the nation will be playing for your enjoyment in concerts, at intimate, up-close performances in breakout rooms, for sing-a-longs, and kolo dancing. The orchestras include Adriatic Braca, Becari of San Francisco, Braca Tamburitza Orchestra, Dunav of Chicago, Jedinstvo Tamburica Orchestra, Jerry Grcevich Tamburitza Orchestra, Krilich Brothers Orchestra, Los Angeles Tamburitza Orchestra, Novi Stari Tamburasi, Orkestar Zabava, , Sarena, Sidro, Sinovi of Chicago, Sinovi of Seattle, Slavonian Traveling Band, Sviraj Balkan Jam, Tamburaski Sastav Barabe, Tamburitza Rroma, Trubaduri, Veseli Tamburitzans, Yeseta Brothers Tamburica Orchestra.

The music will go late for sing-a-longs and spontaneous kolo dancing. The program includes dance workshops; dancing thursday, friday and saturday evenings; and two concerts. Also, offerred will be a lecture about the San history of this kind of music by historian, Adam Eterovich. There will be a special tribute to composer Emil Cossetto, and a performance of Ladarke, his famous choral piece.
