MASS is pleased to present Systems of Growth and Decay, with recent work from Jarrod Beck and Amanda Schoppel in drawing, sculpture and site-specific installation. During the exhibition, seeds will sprout and die in the gallery; monoliths will crumble, acting out an inevitable collapse.

“Decay is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence.” (The Buddha’s final words.)

It is this spirit that motivates the work of Jarrod Beck and Amanda Schoppel, whose interdisciplinary practice is concerned with ecology and duration, the beauty and fragility of living things, and the enduring nature of art.
