In this day-long symposium, the authors of the new book, Paris on the Potomac, explore the French influence on the artistic and architectural development of Washington, DC. Hillwood senior curator Liana Paredes, Corcoran College of Art and Design adjunct professor Cynthia R. Field, and University of Maryland associate professor of architecture Isabelle Gournay, along with Cynthia Mills of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, lead seminars examining interior decoration, city planning, architecture, and sculpture. The day concludes with a book signing and a tour highlighting the French influences on Hillwood’s mansion. Presented in partnership with the Alliance Française de Washington. 9 a.m. to 4:30 pm
