?Sympathetic Vibrations? is an exhibition of colorful abstract paintings and vinyl record assemblages created by Katherine Kisa. Playful, colorful and inviting to touch, her artwork is on view from March 1 through March 30, 2006, in Gallery West Goodwin House Bailey?s Crossroads located on 3440 South Jefferson Street in Falls Church, VA 22041.

Primarily a self taught artist, Ms. Kisa prefers to learn new techniques through trial and error. Her work is featured in shows around the country. Inspired by music, science, dancing, singing, painting, cutting, hammering, and sewing, her compositions are lyrical, and structural, harmonic and colorful. Materials include vinyl, wood, gold leaf, velvet, metal. Many of her abstract works reflect her ongoing affinity with numbers, scientific shapes and symbols. ?When my mind, hand and brush work in synchrony, magic is achieved."

Vinyl record albums play a key role in her compositions, conveying contemporary as well as nostalgic musical expressions with titles such as "A Taste of Soul," "Ode to Satchmo," and "Beatbox." Her work has been featured in numerous juried exhibitions, and she won first place in fine art at Artscape 2002 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is represented by Authentic Art Consulting, Washington, DC for this exhibit.

Ms. Kisa will discuss her artwork at an Artist Talk and Closing Reception in the Atrium of Goodwin House Bailey?s Crossroads on Thursday, March 23, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Jazz keyboardist Melvin Rogers will be playing smooth jazz and some of the music depicted from the vinyl records depicted in Ms. Kisa?s artwork. Her paintings are on display from March 1-30.
