DANCE PARTY:

• 8:40 free Swing Basics lesson,

• and dancing on a chandelier-lit huge wood ballroom floor.

No partner and no dance experience needed. Lots of friendly people to dance with of all levels and ages.

"Listening to Eight to the Bar is a lot like driving along a time-warped highway precisely halfway between Count Basie's Kansas City and Fats Waller's Harlem, where the car radio picks up everything from 'Take the A Train' to 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.' Their material, like their outlandish wardrobes and onstage choreography, is a colorful mix of forties jive and swing, fifties jump blues, and their own swing-influenced tunes. With their female vocals, saxophone, guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, this unique sextet pack a musical and visual wallop not seen in New England since the group's inception in 1975."

WORKSHOP:
7:00 - 8:40 Lindy Hop: Fundamentals Refresher, followed by guided practice (open to all, no experience needed)

This workshop, taught by Jerry & Nancy, is for all levels and is inspired by the movement-focused classes taught currently by the international stars of Lindy Hop. It will introduce the basics to those brand new to Lindy and help experienced Lindy Hoppers reinforce the vital techniques which make a swing-out really swing. In addition to focusing on the core movement, lead/follow, pulse, and positioning in the swing-out, we'll do a fun combination which includes other moves, plus the option of how to transition to and from 6-count Swing. Comfortable flat dance shoes or smooth-soled sneakers are recommended.
