Back Hand Productions' inaugural theatre production has been heralded by the New York Times as "A screwy little jewel of a play. It's as unconventional a conventional look at love as you'll find" at its NY premiere in 2005.
Following a group of friends living in Rhode Island, Swimming in the Shallows offers a fresh take in asking our most thought-provoking questions: what do we, as a society and as individuals, truly "need"?; how can we keep self-doubt and anxiety from running our lives and decisions?; and, in a media-saturated post-Jaws culture, can true love between a man and a shark ever survive? Possession, love, commitment, reliance, independence, friendship, and expectations are provoked, prodded, and flipped upside-down with hilarious results in this intimate and outrageous contemporary suburban comedy by playwright Adam Bock.
Directed by Cyle Conley.
