The SWATCH-FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour is an annual tour event sanctioned by the FIVB (Federation International de Volleyball) that has the best players in the world vying for top prize money as well as world ranking points. In 2006, there were a total of 15 tour stops in the women’s world tour and the total prize money given out was US $ 3.36 million.

The 2007 season will see a total of 18 stops and the world tour events would also be Olympic qualification tournaments for teams to secure a place at the 2008 Olympics. Being the highest level of Beach Volleyball played in the world, the world tour attracts the best athletes (Olympic Medalists, World Champions, Continental Tour Champions) as well as strong support from international media.

In 2007, Singapore will witness its first ever Women’s world tour event and this would be the biggest ever beach lifestyle event hosted on the island.

It would also be the first time Olympic qualification as well as Olympic level athletes compete on Singapore soil for Beach Volleyball.
