WRLDs is offering a series of seminars exploring Social Media. Our first seminar will provide an introduction to the technologies of Web 2.0, including:

Blogging, Twitter, Facebook, del.icio.us, YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, FriendFeed, Second Life and more…

This seminar will provide a practical overview of Social Media for those considering expanding their work or business to include these approaches. As an introductory workshop, it is perfect for those who would like to explore how these media can be further utilized for their business.

We will also address the future of Social Media, with a discussion on Web 3.0: The Semantic Web

These are lively, engaging, interactive seminars!

Faculty

The seminar will be lead by Marta Lyall, a scholar, researcher and artist, whose work focuses on the structures and mechanisms of information. She has served on the faculty of the University of Washington, and Carnegie Mellon University where she taught interdisciplinary studies, including New Media and Electronic Time-based Art. Her teaching and research has often blurred the boundaries between the humanities, science, engineering and economics. She also lectured and presented in Japan and Europe.

In addition to her former faculty work, she earned her NASD licenses, working in the financial sector to better understand markets and their impact on our culture. Most recently, she founded WRLDs LLC, an organization whose goal is to provide transparency within complex cultural trends, fields of study and technologies.
