The classic ballet Swan Lake follows young Prince Siegfried upon his coming of age. As he wanders one day, he comes upon an enchanted lake. An evil sorcerer has transformed all the maidens into swans. The only way to break the spell is for a young man to truly fall in love with one of the swan maidens, named Odette. The prince discovers Odette and vows to free her from the evil spell. True love triumphs and the spell is broken. Swan Lake was Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's first composition for ballet. The ballet premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow under the title The Lake of the Swans and ran for 6 years.
