ISIS: Women Arts Festival

sponsored by Steel Grace Dance/Jah Breeze Rhythms and Fremont Abbey Arts Center

"ISIS Women Arts Festival" is Seattle's only all-female, arts-centered, community-building event, featuring female artists of all mediums. At 7pm, we will showcase visual artists working in video, paint, and multimedia sculpture, including one young artist from a local elementary school. The performance-based portion of the evening begins at 8pm, and includes dance video, up-and-coming choreographers, dancers of many styles, and musicians from all walks of life, including an all-girls steel drum group from a local elementary school.

The ISIS celebration aims to empower women through artistic dialogue, and to build community through personal expression. Another ISIS goal is to open opportunities to artists who do not otherwise get a chance to showcase their work.

ISIS honors SWAN Day, or Support Women Artists Now! SWAN Day is an international holiday celebrating its second year. This day of female artist empowerment was created by the Fund for Women Artists and WITASWAN (Women in the Audiences Support Women Artists Now.) It is a grassroots campaign designed to encourage awareness-raising events like ISIS all over the world.
