VC Breakfast Club with Dev Khare of Venrock Ventures, focus on Technology, Healthcare, Media and Energy Sectors
Because Venrock was founded in 1969 as the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller Family and we have $2.1 billion under management.
Because Venrock provides funding and services for entrepreneurs with breakthrough ideas in technology, healthcare, media and energy.
Because Venrock's entrepreneurs have charted new advancements in cancer and HIV treatments, powered semiconductors and the digital era, secured our information technology infrastructure, pioneered on-line advertising, delighted consumers and most recently, generating power through alternative means.
Because Venrock's 23 professionals currently back 104 ventures out of offices in Menlo Park, New York City, Cambridge, and Israel.
Venrock's strong trusted network includes international partners, a vast array of former and current CEOs, and those who know them - attorneys, accountants, venture capitalists, employee teams and alumni programs. With offices in Menlo Park, CA, New York City, Cambridge, and Israel, Venrock partners and its primary network are coast-to-coast and extends across the Atlantic.
Since 1969, Venrock has developed into one of this country's premier venture capital firms with offices in Menlo Park, New York, Cambridge and Israel. Venrock continues the seven-decade Rockefeller tradition of funding entrepreneurs and establishing successful, enduring companies. We have invested $1.9 billion in 405 companies over the past 39 years, resulting in 124 IPOs and 114 M&A exits. Venrock's returns place it among the top tier venture capital firms that have achieved consistently superior performance.
Venrock currently oversees 104 portfolio investments across the information technology, healthcare, and energy sectors and has been behind pioneers including Intel, Apple Computer, StrataCom, Check Point Software, and DoubleClick; Sirna Therapeutics, Centocor, Idec Pharmaceuticals, Sugen, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, and Illumina.
With a rich background in product management, marketing and international finance, Dev brought his entrepreneurial experience to Venrock in 2006. Prior to Venrock, he held leadership positions in Symbol Technologies’ Mobile Software Division. He joined Symbol in 2003 after its acquisition of Covigo, a mobile application software company he co-founded in 1999. Prior to Covigo, he held marketing and product management positions at CrossWorlds Software, a Venrock-backed enterprise software company, before its sale to IBM.
In addition to his involvement in software, Dev was an investment banker with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and with Jefferies & Company. Dev worked in India for DLJ Merchant Banking in private equity and Aditi Technologies in business process outsourcing and software services. He founded IndiaEntrepreneurs, a grassroots forum for entrepreneurs and investors and brings a wealth of knowledge to entrepreneurs focused on global opportunities in the mobile and new media arenas.
