The Panel:
Rob Coneybeer brings to Shasta Ventures deep experience in building startup companies. Prior to co-founding Shasta Ventures, he was a general partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) where he led 15 early-stage investments in core infrastructure technologies spanning semiconductors, software and networking equipment. Prior to joining the venture capital industry, Rob served as a lead integration and test engineer in the Astro Space division of Martin Marietta. While at Martin Marietta, Rob helped build the first EchoStar spacecraft.
Rob’s current areas of active interest include mobile, wireless, and sensors, as well as technology applications that leverage new infrastructure technologies in novel and creative ways. He is particularly interested in startups that have discovered creative new approaches to connecting the “real world” to the Internet, whether via smartphones, low-cost sensors, or other innovative new devices.

Rob earned a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia. He also holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was named a Palmer Scholar.

Ho Nam is a General Partner of Altos Ventures, focusing on investments in the areas of software, digital media, and infrastructure technologies. He currently serves as a director of Accolo, Billeo, JS-Kit, SayNow, Telekenex, Trilibis Mobile, and WhiteHat Security. Ho led the firm's prior investments in Axis Systems, Evolve Software, Listen.com, Nishan Systems, Pixo, Provato and Soundpipe. All were deals in which Altos was the lead investor in the first institutional round of funding and achieved exits via IPO or trade sale to public companies.

Before joining Altos Ventures in 1996, Ho worked at Silicon Graphics and Octel Communications. Ho began his VC career at Trinity Ventures in 1990 and began his professional career at Bain & Company where he advised clients in the Semiconductor industry on product and corporate strategy.

Ho received an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College.

Michel Wendell has 20 years of broad experience in launching and managing international Infocom companies. By advising successful start-ups and billion-dollar market leaders in Finland, Sweden, France and the United States, Mr. Wendell has gained a thorough understanding of the changing dynamics of globalizing markets and rapidly developing technologies. His extensive network of contacts in Silicon Valley, where he resides, is a significant resource to Nexit's portfolio companies.

Before co-founding Nexit Ventures, Mr. Wendell served as Vice President of Business Development at Cadence Design Systems. He founded EuroVAR, a European-wide network of Windows based EDA solution distributors, and was VP Europe for OrCAD, Inc., a leading PC based design tool vendor.

Previously, Mr. Wendell launched Mentor Graphics' Scandinavian operations in Stockholm, Sweden, and subsequently headed European Marketing and Product Development from Paris, France, after which he managed partnership programs on a corporate level, based in corporate HQ in Beaverton, OR, USA.
