The idea for SUSE Saturday came about at a PSNUG meeting. We want to introduce SUSE Linux to new users (Mac/Windows users) who would like to expand their knowledge about Linux. These are INTRODUCTION level classes.

Bring your home computer or laptop to install and configure SUSE Linux. Don't have a system to bring? Just let us know and we can have a system for you to use for the day. (Also, if you don't want to carry a monitor and keyboard, we can provide them for you to use for the day.)
contact:

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: most any machine made this century

CPU - both AMD and Intel (32 or 64 bit)
512 MB RAM
5 GB Hard drive space minimum
obviously we can't guarantee successful installation - but we have had members install on most types of machines and even G4 Mac.
IF you can find what is called a "Live CD" from most any Linux distrobution, you can boot from this Live CD (will not add anything to your local hard disk) and see what works. If this Live CD works, then you can install Linux onto your hard disk. AND even if it doesn't work flawlessly, you may find that a hard disk installation will work as it may have the missing hardware drivers.

You can do your own research at openSUSE.org then you will find Hardware Compatibility List link. Other hardware may well work, but may not be listed. You might help update this list? And other linux web-sites might have more information about what hardware works.
