Survival Games July 27, 2012

A 3 day 2 night opportunity to learn and experience some of the skills used in the recent hit movie “The Hunger Games”

When attending this event you will have the opportunity to learn many basic survival skills. Ages 12 and up are welcome to attend but if under 18 you must be accompanied by a parent.

Courses offered will be as follows:

Setting Snares and foraging/ small game preparation - OPTIONAL – Friday night we will begin with foraging/snares. In this course you will learn VERY basic skills. There will be an introduction to wild edibles. In addition you will learn how to set a snare and prepare a previously dispatched squirrel for a meal in the wild.

Knot Tying – you must know how to tie a know to set trap, build a shelter or protect your food!

Map and Compass Skills – Navigation is a must have skill for any outdoors person

Shelter Building – You need to know how to keep dry and warm – you will build shelters in this class

Basic First Aid – We will only review the basics, but we all need to know at least this much!

Basic Survival and Hydration – Finding water and reading your surroundings can be the difference between life or death in the wild!

Archery – Katniss sure knew how to use a bow! It takes time and practice to get that good but we will give you some pointers to get you shooting in the right direction!

Each course will last 2 hours and courses will run all day Saturday and Sunday morning. After lunch on Sunday we will have our time trial competition. You will be tested in each of the 6 skills taught (not including the snares and foraging).

There can only be one winner so pay attention in class!

Event will proceed rain or shine.

Tents will be provided to those attending the event that need them, meals are included. There are bathrooms and a solar shower on site.

Event is limited to 30 attendees only on a first come first served basis.
Cost is $175 for Sat through Sunday – additional $25 for Friday PM when we will prepare wild game and forage for a meal. (Adult non-participant for all 3 days is only $35.00. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by parental guardian)
