Super Storm Drain Stencilers April 21, 2007

Description: Storm drains were designed to be the fastest and most efficient way of getting rainwater off streets and parking lots. Unfortunately, the water that flows into storm drains carries trash and sediment, fertilizers, household cleaners, gasoline and motor oil. All of these pollutants are dumped directly into San Diego’s rivers, bays and ocean – untreated! This means that bacteria, hazardous wastes, and other pollutants enter our natural waterways.

Celebrate National & Global Youth Service Day with your friends and family by stencilling messages next to storm drains to help raise awareness about the link between the storm drain systems and water quality!

Our goal is to stencil over 100 storm drains around Point Loma and Ocean Beach for National & Global Youth Service Day!

Paint, stencils, and safety equipment are provided.

Please wear clothes appropriate for walking and painting.

Minimum age with an adult: 4

Minimum age without an adult: 16

Please note that volunteers under the age of 18 will need to have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian in order to participate.
