As part of the Summer Special, CounterPULSE and the Blind Tiger Society present a world premiere by Bianca Cabrera - Sunk in Sleep. Sunk in Sleep is a dance set in the liminal space between dreaming and waking. Evocative sets, detailed costuming and transformative makeup lend an eerie and mystical look into the wandering mind at rest. Thick with anthropomorphic metaphor and rich with image, Sunk in Sleep vacillates between narrative storylines and kinetic sensationalism. Unadulterated physical vocabulary matched with unpredictable partnering creates an atmosphere of adventure while leaving the audience with a resonant experience of peril and delight. Audience members can expect the dance to wander through meaning, meander through symbol and blur the distinction between truths and fantasy. A down the rabbit hole kind of exploit, Sunk in Sleep takes you straight into the belly of your own beast. www.heybianca.com
