Girl Power: The Magic of Mentoring & the History of House

What: Sundae Sermon is back on Sunday July 24, from 3-8pm. This Sunday’s theme is Girl Power Day! and will include three all star female DJs (DJ Reborn, DJ Kamala, and DJ Bevery Bond) who will mentor and encourage young girls to chase their dreams. Face painting, hula hoops, a drawing station, and ball games will also be on hand. The day will be hosted by Michaela Angela Davis (Image Activist) and her mentoring group Soul du Shine.

Following the afternoon of fun will be the screening of “Maestro” at 8pm as part of the Maysles Cinema's Outdoor Screening Series. This critically acclaimed film takes a rare look at the beginnings of the underground NY music and dance scene. Featuring Larry Levan, David Mancuso, Frankie Knuckles, Nicky Sciano, Francois K, Jellybean Benitez, Tony Humphries, Little Louie Vega, Keith Haring and many more PLUS some incredible dancers from the Loft, Paradise Garage days. Directed by Josell Ramos 2003. Series is brought to you with support from Target®.
