Summer Solstice has long been a time of celebration. The first day of summer, greets us with sunshine, warmth, and a bountiful forest of flowers, fruits, and abundant wildlife.

Over 2,000 years ago, Native American mound-builders chose Anderson ’s White River area to construct their ceremonial mounds. Many of these mounds are aligned to observe important astronomical events, such as those that occur on the solstices.
