Süd Electronic's 6 Year Birthday Bash !

How time flies when you are having fun !. I can't believe it's 6 years already . Many many thanx to all that have supported us in the past . We have been trully honoured & humbled & we hope you will continue to support us , in the future & more especially you will join us , to celebrate lakuti's /lerato's birthday on the night , as well as Sutekh's birthday on top of Süd's 6 year bash !

We will be spreading the birthday celebrations over 2 months .September the 29th & October 27th ,(october 27th being in a warehouse space further east ) using 2 fab venues , both in East London . We have enlisted the help of 2 friends , who have played a seminal role in electronic music , in the last few years . Canadian , native and now dwelling in Valencia , Spain ; Mike Shannon & San Franscisco resident , Sutekh . As usual , man of the moment , Alan Abrahams , will be unleashing some of the most infectious , electronic funk , this side of Hackney ; as Body Code .

Mike Shannon
Mike Shannon begun his techno career in the Toronto area as a DJ before eventually moving to Montreal, where he flourished as a producer during the early 2000s. Shannon grew up in Kitchener, Ontario, and began DJing at age of 12 when his father bought him his first mixer. Occasional excursions to nearby Detroit, where he would buy records and attend parties, spurned his interest in techno as a teenager. Shannon became a professional techno DJ around 1993 or so and began promoting events as well as performing at them. Towards the late '90s he broadened his reach from Kitchener to Toronto, where he landed a Friday-night residency at the fabled Industry club in 1999 and launched Cynosure Recordings that same year. He re-located to Montreal soon afterward to join the city's burgeoning glitch-techno scene fostered by the annual Mutek festival. There he befriended Jeff Milligan (Algorithm), with whom he toured Europe in 2000, and continued his transition from DJ to producer. His efforts were rewarded in 2002 when Force Inc released his debut album, Slight of Hand, and included him on the Montreal Smoked Meat compilation.
Jeff Milligan & Mike Shannon , have since joined forces to co- run , both Cynosure & Revolver . (their catalog includes seminal releases from fellow Canadian techno luminaries Akufen, Deadbeat and Pan/Tone amongst others ) .
Wth his own releases on Force Inc., Logistic, Dumb-Unit and Mathew Jonson’s Wagon Repair, 2006 , has been a busy year for this artist . With gigs at some of the most renowned clubs & festivals around the globe ; namely Panorama Bar , Watergate , Fabric , Yellow , in Japan ; not too mention one of the most memorable parties during the Sonar Festival, alongside , Matthew Johnson , Conrad Black e.t.c. a forthcoming stint in Japan , the rest of 2006 is set to be even busier .

Sutekh
Sutekh is renowned the world over for his fresh approach to electronic production. With releases on respected labels such as Cytrax , Delay , M_nus , Edit , Plug Research , Soul Jazz , Leaf , Background , and his own Context imprint plus many more , Sutekh is a favourite down our headquarters .
His DJing and live work have taken Seth across continents and through various lines of work, all the while absorbing numerous streams of culture and subculture, entwined and aligned by the constant thread of music of all shapes and forms. He has studied tabla in India and has, for the last two years, been studying and practicing daily on the baby-grand that sits in his San Francisco basement (the piano actually belongs to his neighbours Drew and Martin of Matmos!). This fascination with classical and jazz music and theory might not be a trait often found among electronic producers, but there's no doubt it informs his work. Manipulating and abusing computers, samplers, synthesizers, various acoustic instruments, and found sounds, he has created everything from deep, minimal house and techno to dense, dissonant noise collage, but never at the expense of the funk – these expansive, elastic rerubs sit together astonishingly well.
Sutekh is a true genius !

Body Code
What can i say . This has been a trully massive year for Alan Abrahams .
2006 saw the release of his well received album ' The Conservation Of Electric Charge ' on Ghostly /Spectral ; under his new Body Code guise .
With a hectic tour schedule , in the last few months , which has seen him perform at Sonar , alongside Audion & Ryan Elliot , The Detroit Electronic Music Festival , Bleeding Edge Festival , In San Franscisco in a line up which included Matmos , Godspeed e.t.c. , Fabric , in a line up which included Carl Craig , Rob Hood e.t.c. Soon he will be playing at Berlin's most notorious venue Berghain/Panorama , alongside Jeff Mills e.t.c .
Alan has managed to create some of the most unique elctronic music of the last few years . One of the most engaging live artists i have ever , had the pleasure of hearing ., whether , as Body Code or under his original guise , Portable .
2006 , will also see a release of his 2nd album for Scape , as ' Portable .
