OAKLAND ASIAN CULTURAL CENTER STUDENT SHOWCASE

This is the first annual showcase of Oakland Asian Cultural Center classes. OACC has an
extensive schedule for children and adults covering six days a week. This year's
showcase will feature Chinese Folk Dance, Chinese Music, and Ballet.

Patty Chu is an experienced children's dance instructor as well as artistic director of

Patty Chu’s Children's Dance Troupe. She is known for her patience, thoroughness,

and deep knowledge of Chinese folk arts. Her children’s classes are renowned in Oakland’s
Chinatown and packed nearly every weekend.

Wil Hou and Winnie Wong teach Chinese woodwinds and the Guzheng respectively.
Their classes not only teach students about Chinese music, but also stress self-esteem,
self-discipline, poise, and etiquette. Hou and Wong are also the leaders of the Chinese Spirit
Music Ensemble renowned throughout the Bay Area.

Yuko Katsumi and Joseph Levinson teach classical ballet on Wednesday afternoons.
Classical ballet has long been used to promote health, good posture, grace, strength and
expression. The couple believes through the dance discipline students find freedom and
movement. And that through movement students find and express their hearts and desires.

This is an opportunity for the public to come and support these students as they aspire to
cultivate their early artistic inclinations.

Tickets are $5. For information contact Anne Huang, Executive Director at
