Strong Words will be celebrating its first year anniversary with a special reading and the launch of our first anthology. Celebrated poet and playwright George Elliott Clarke, writer and editor Emily Schultz, and poet Myna Wallin will be making their first appearances at this special edition of Strong Words. Novelist and musician Chris Eaton, writer Emily Pohl-Weary, and poet and rapper Spencer Butt of the Secret Handshake will be making return appearances.

The doors for the first anniversary edition of Strong Words will open at 7:30 PM, with readings beginning sharply at 8:00 PM. There will be a $5.00 cover charge, or free admission with every $12.00 purchase of a copy of the anthology. Refreshment will be available, along with material from Strong Words readers past and present.

Strong Words began as a reading series with an open and eclectic agenda, a place for readers and listeners who might not otherwise attend a reading series. During its first year, it has become a forum for diverse and unpredictable readings and performances. Readers in the past year have ranged from novelist Kevin Hainey and entertainment journalist Jason Anderson to Ninja High School mastermind Matt Collins and Wavelength music series programmer Kevin Parnell. All of these authors and many more are featured in Strong Words: Year One, which will be available in stores and online at www.indieprodukt.com.
