Strike Out Homelessness at the SOS Bowl-A-Thon!

Ypsilanti, MI?January 31, 2005?SOS Community Services proudly announces the 4th Annual SOS Bowl-A-Thon, scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2005. The event will be held from 7-9 p.m. at Ypsi-Arbor Lanes, located at 2985 Washtenaw in Ypsilanti.

The Bowl-A-Thon will raise funds to support SOS Housing Crisis Services, including short-term crisis counseling and case management, eviction prevention, distribution of emergency food and personal hygiene items, utility assistance, shelter location and housing relocation. SOS invites community members and organizations interested in ending homelessness in Washtenaw County to collect pledges. All ages are welcome. Individuals collecting a minimum of $100 and teams collecting a minimum of $400 will win an evening of free bowling (shoes also complimentary). Individuals will be assigned a lane with three other bowlers. Teams may be of any size, but will be limited to one lane. The top fund-raising individuals in each age group and the top fund-raising team will win special prizes. To register, contact Grace at (734) 961-1204 or [email protected].

Event and lane sponsorships are available for businesses and organizations that wish to support SOS and its work with local families facing homelessness. Event sponsorships require a $500 commitment; a limited number of lane sponsorships are available for $100. Both sponsorship levels provide opportunities for publicity. SOS Community Services responds with care and respect to families in need by working in partnerships that result in economic, family, and residential stability. In addition to our Housing Crisis Services, SOS provides comprehensive services for homeless families and children, including but not limited to temporary shelter and transitional housing, educational and employability support services, life skills training, parenting programs and play-groups, therapeutic child care and after-school programs.
