The rock quintet of Strike Anywhere, formed in 1999 in Richmond, VA, spices its strong melodies with a mix of punk rock and hardcore-style energy. The Riverboat Gamblers came out of Denton, TX, in 2001. The heavy, pinch-hitting post-grunge sound of Paint It Black came together in the middle class neighborhoods of Philly in 2000.
