Exploding with suspense and ingenuity, STREB’s virtuosic, daredevil performers combine extreme sports with dance. With backgrounds in ballet, modern dance, martial arts, acrobatics and circus skills, they are renowned for their fearlessness, unyielding precision and aggressive physicality.

Using experimental technologies such as "smart" prostheses, personal robots and a human-sized yo-yo to create a new vocabulary of performance, STREB:Brave joins forces with MIT Media Lab and adventurous artists from other disciplines to investigate the concepts of gravity, perpetual motion and centrifugal force.

Other pieces performed will included Fall Line, Airlines, Surface, and Look Up.

STREB:Brave is part of UNC's CHAT Festrival (Feb. 12-20, 2010), focused on exploring the realm of digital arts and humanities and how to bring technology into the classroom.

STREB's performances of Fall Line, Airlines, Surface and Look Up is made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts' American Masterpieces: Dance initiative, administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts.

"...gasp-inducing, heart-pounding...terrifying and invigorating."
