Fiery percussionist and featured soloist Lisa Pegher returns to Grand Junction to perform Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto. Pegher’s performances at Mesa State College awed local audiences, and the GJSO is pleased to present this vivacious young artist in concert! Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question will complete the American portion of the performance. The second half of the program features works by German masters Wagner and Strauss, with Richard Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche taking center stage. This symphonic work chronicles the German folk tale of the prankster Till Eulenspiegel. Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, parts of which were later incorporated into the famed ring-cycle opera Siegfried, will also be performed.

Pegher has appeared as soloist in numerous venues in various cities such as Chicago, Tokyo, Eindhoven, Houston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New York. Solo Percussionist, Lisa Pegher, has been called “The Future of Percussion” and as quoted by Symphony Magazine, “is blazing a particularly rough, un-trodden trail,” in the world of percussion.
