"STORIES IN STONE" - A Art & Heritage Tour to Historic Bhuleshwar Temple February 26, 2011

Continuing with our tradition of weekend trips, Art2Day Gallery along with Black Swan has organized a one day Heritage Tour to Bhuleshwar, the famous 13th century Shiva temple, under the guidance of well known art historian & archaeologist Dr. Shrikant Pradhan.
Bhuleshwar is important both historically and mythological. Scenes from the Mahabharata come alive here!. The temple was once within a fort, the remnants of which are visible in the vicinity of the temple. The distinctive minaret structure is influenced by Islamic architecture. Legend has it, that it was built to look like a mosque to stop further vandalisation.
To observe history at its richest form, from temple sculptures to wall painting & carvings, Bhuleshwar has something to offer for anyone willing to explore. Temple complex is one of the best places to let go off the shutterbug in you!
