Want to learn how to do clay animation like the experts?
Come be part of Zeum's first workshop for adults, focusing on animation and visual storytelling. No prior experience with animation is required - all you need is a desire to learn more about hands-on, visual storytelling, and an enjoyment of wine, snacks and networking.

What is Stop Motion Animation?
Stop Motion Animation is an animation technique often involving clay figures. It's the technique
used to make movies like the original Star Wars trilogy, Gumby, The
Nightmare before Christmas, and the video for the song,"Sledgehammer" by
Peter Gabriel.

What you will experience
At the workshop, you will be led
through an engaging evening where
youll learn how to make stop motion animation using clay, drawings, or
any found objects to make your characters. You don't need to be an
artist! Light refreshments and wine will be served

Our instructor
We'll be led in our experience by one of Zeums six professional
artist-educators, Eli Africa. Eli
welcomes opportunities to teach digital animation and visual arts to create a
world of enlightenment, wonder and empowerment, without cultural barriers. He
is an award-winning video documentary director, having won Best Foreign Short
Documentary in the 2004 New York International Independent Film & Video
Festival. Eli has served as a senior university lecturer, teaching basic and
advanced college-level, art-lab courses, such as drawing techniques, materials,
editorial design, and photography. He enjoys sharing his art with his children.

Organized by Zeum
Zeum is a non-profit multimedia and technology museum with a mission
to provide multimedia tools for families of all communities to think
and act creatively.
By providing hands-on experiences in four
core creative processes (animation, sound and video production, live
performance and visual arts), we encourage youth to share their
stories, build their voices, and use multimedia tools for creative
self-expression.
