The first annual Armed Forces Day Celebration (Civic Reception) and Parade will be held on Saturday 27th June 2009 at 1600hrs the Victoria Hall Hanley (Doors Open). The event organisers are Stoke-on-Trent Armed Forces Day Working Group sponsored by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
The Staffordshire ACF Corps of Drums will provide music in Tontine Square Hanley from 1200 hrs where they will do a Beating of Retreat - they will do 3 performances on the hour until 1500 hrs.
The Army Recruiting Team from MOD Stafford have kindly agreed to provide a Climbing Tower and a Recruiting Caravan.
3 Mercian (Staffords) have kindly agreed to provide a Warrior fighting vehicle and a recruiting stand.
The 3 Mercian Regimental Mascot CSgt Watchman 5 and Handler CSgt Hedges will be on parade from 1200 hrs.
The Parade will consist of serving members, cadets and veterans from all the armed services and will include the County Standard of The Staffordshire Regiment and Standards from Regimental, Ex- Service Associations from North Staffordshire, the parade marshal is John MacNair OStJ QGM.
Refreshments After The Event (Ticket Only). The Veterans, their guests, Standard Bearers are cordially invited to a Civic Reception at the Victoria Hall for a finger buffet following the event.
Parking is available around the Victoria Hall.
Medical cover for the event will be provided by St Johns Ambulance.
