adelheid’s world premiere of a new choreography created and performed by Heidi Strauss, Factory Theatre’s Dance-Artist-in-Residence, is called still here, playing April 7 – 17 in the Studio Theatre.

Her latest solo is “a window into the layers of life that accumulate over time:” says Strauss, “what is lived, what is discovered or rediscovered, what is exposed, how we see differently in certain moments; a series of little deaths.”

still here is an intimate living portrait of a woman in a place where things are not always what they seem. In a constructed room, part installation, part fantastical solo drifting between realities, still here is a recurrent coming to terms with appearances, eventualities and what is ahead. With set and costume design by Julie Fox, and video and sound by Jeremy Mimnagh, Strauss performs on an island that can be transported anywhere: a gallery, a street corner, a park, a theatre. Strauss has premiered two previous works in Performance Spring to critical acclaim: in 2009, as it is earned one of NOW Magazine’s Top 10 Dance Shows, and, in 2010, this time earned two Dora Mavor Moore Awards, one for Outstanding Performance (Brendan Wyatt) and one for Outstanding Original Choreography (Heidi Strauss).
