Pennsylvania has long been a fertile ground for pundits and students of politics. HSP gathers a distinguished panel of scholars and political commentators to provided a post-mortem on the recent elections and to discuss current political developments and future prospects in light of the state's checkered political history. Panelists will consider such elements of political life as partisanship, leading characters, and memorable moments. They will also help explain why Pennsylvania, once dubbed the "keystone in the Democratic arch," has produced so few serious presidential contenders, and only one president--James Buchanan.
