with Connie Shih, accompanist
Cellist Steven Isserlis has a passion for music that transcends conventional divisions. Acclaimed worldwide for his musicality and technique alike, he is equally at home drawing the audience into his circle of friends for chamber music or in recital, or delving into the historical archives to emerge with a forgotten gem. His program will include Mendelssohn’s Cello Sonata no. 2; his own arrangement of Schumann’s Violin Sonata no. 3; Janá ek’s Pohadka and Martinu’s Cello Sonata no. 1.
This performance is dedicated by the Steppel family in loving memory of Barbara K. Steppel (1946–2006).
