Lt. Bob Burke, Commander of the Pendleton Post, would like to invite all area media organizations to attend the Indiana State Police Memorial Service at the Pendleton Post. The service will last approximately 20 minutes and a luncheon will be served afterward. The service begins at 11 a.m.

There will be a 21-gun salute by Indiana State Troopers from the Pendleton Post. The Anderson Highland High School Bagpipe Corps will play amazing grace followed by an Anderson Highland Band member playing taps.

Forty-five Indiana State Police personnel have been killed in the line of duty since the inception of the Indiana State Police in 1933. Two of those personnel, Roy Jones and Robert Garrison, were working out of the Pendleton District when killed. Trooper Garrison was killed on December 14, 1959 in a car crash on State Road 67. Trooper Jones was killed on July 3, 1979 in a car crash in Pendleton. The widows and families of these two fallen troopers are planning to attend the service.
