New York born and Montreal based, Stars are soft-revolutionaries and music is their rallying cry. Their indie dance pop rallies to save us from our mundane and complacent fears. When at a loss for words, one music writer said the only way to describe Stars was "beautiful hope". Their music has been described as "breath-takingly effervescent" and they have been called the kind of band that "blue lights and fog machines are made for". The new album, The Five Ghosts, which was released June 22nd, has already been lauded by SPIN for its "flowing, synth-backed melodies" and THE NEW YORK TIMES said that "The music brims with optimism, full of major chords, sparkling synthetic sounds and tireless electronic beats". FILTER congratulated its "perfectly placed synthesizers" and "haunting vocals," going on to say that The Five Ghosts "packs the same profundity, rhapsodic charm and orchestration of previous records, but Stars takes it one step further, intensifying their indie-pop wizardry."
