More than 200 artists and thousands of fans from around the world will converge on Austin tomorrow for the start of the Sixth Annual Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival, held at the Palmer Events Center 900 Barton Springs Road. This year's event runs January 3rd-6th.
The International Tattoo and Art Show kicks off with an art opening Thursday evening at River City Tattoo, 718 1/2 Congress Ave, featuring Austin artist Gary Martin and continues with after party at the Jackalope on 6th Street.
The show then continues Friday through Sunday at the Palmer Events Center 900 Barton Springs Road, with live tattooing by artists from all around the world and a full schedule of art and tattoo related activities including tattoo contests, art gallery, car and motorcycle displays and unique vendors.
The show has continued to grow, showing Texas' love of all things art, as well as showing artists from around the world a bit of Texas hospitality. This year's show will feature an even larger Art Gallery showcasing the true artistic skills of today's tattooists.
The event will be covered by International Tattoo Magazines from the United States, Japan, Mexico and England as well as two television crews covering both historical aspects and a funky travel angle.
Tickets are $15 for a day pass or $40 for a weekend pass, available at the door or on-line. Show hours are noon-10:00 Friday and Saturday and noon-7:00 on Sunday.
