Buzz Comedy presents Stand-up Comedy at the Rose Theatre. With comedians Greg Cook, Mike Newall, Jollyboat, and Ryan Gleeson.

Tickets £6.00 / £3.75 concessions.

Greg Cook

Greg Cook has a deadpan style and is a master of the spoken word. A prolific writer of comedy, he has several hours of tested material to draw on, but reserves the right to dish up a blistering set drawn from this morning's newspapers. Religion, politics, sport, terrorism, poetry, the police, philosophy, royalty, and his long-suffering mum have all been given the Greg Cook treatment. He abandoned a law degree after 2 years to devote more time to writing and performing comedy. "Law and comedy are essentially the same gig," says Greg, "telling lies for money, but this way I don't have to wear a tie."

Mike Newall

Manchester has a rich comedy heritage, seemingly able to produce iconic comedians quite effortlessly. Mike Newall is certainly the latest, and could even go on to become the greatest.

A gentle, amiable power-house of a comic, Mike’s timing is the envy of performers with ten times the experience and is living proof that you can’t learn to be funny, some people just are. Since making his debut in 2003, he has toured the country is now a force to be reckoned with. A talent who audiences, colleagues and industry-types alike are really sitting up and taking notice of. Mike Newall is the future of the Manchester scene, as cheering crowds from Penzance to Inverness will happily testify.

Jollyboat

Jollyboat are Tom and Ed, two brothers who write very energetic pirate-themed musical comedy. In the past year they've sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and won every comedy gong-show they've entered.

4 STARS - "Great comic material and winning performances.  Jollyboat is a (buried) treasure." Fringe Guru

Ryan Gleeson

Ryan Gleeson has proved himself the loveable cheeky chappy of comedy, with audiences instantly warming to his endearing qualities. But, don't let that fool you, this man is the heckler's worst nightmare, shout out at him and he unleashes his quick thinking comedy brain. The Blackpool comedian has also quickly turned himself into one of the most promising comperes in the North West, regularly compering at Blackpool's first and now, only comedy club, The Comedy Station, and other venues across Britain.
