St. Vincent’s Annual Swim Across The Sound Marathon Fundraiser August 7, 2010

Danfords Hotel & Marina (25 East Broadway, Port Jefferson, NY 11777 [631] 928-5200 www.danfords.com) will host approximately 200 swimmers and 400 boaters participating in the 23rd Annual SWIM Across the Sound (www.swimacrossthesound.org) Marathon benefiting St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation. The event will take place on Saturday, August 7 starting at 8:30 a.m. from West Beach in Port Jefferson.

The Marathon involves amateur solo swimmers and relay teams, swimming 15.5 miles from Port Jefferson to Bridgeport, CT. Last year’s event raised $350,000 for 36 cancer services, which provide financial support and care to patients and their families for the needs that health insurance companies do not cover in addition to support groups, education, prevention and wellness programs.

Danfords Hotel & Marina will provide marathon swimmers and volunteer boaters with a special pasta dinner the night before and a complimentary breakfast. Boaters will also receive complimentary admission to AQUA, the property’s waterfront dance club and tapas lounge.
