SQUART!
Spontaneous Queer Art!

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Process begins at 6:00 p.m. | Show at 8:00 p.m.

$5 – $10 sliding scale admission at the door or FREE with membership

Short for Spontaneous queer art, SQUART was conceived by Laura Arrington, out of the desire to foster community and create work without preciousness. THEOFFCENTER and The Lab present this October's SQUART entitled ITS ALIVE! or BE VERY AFRAID! celebrating the good old ghoulish holiday with a dare.
Lets see what can come from it.
SQUART’s format is simple, people show up at 6pm, break into teams and are given a list o...f criteria with two hours to make a piece. At 8pm whatever is made is performed! The work is then commented on by a panel of judges. It's usually incredibly creative, inspiring, fun, and always bizarre.

Four teams will create new works from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Their process of creation is open to the audience. At 8:00 p.m. Teams will present their completed works to the audience

With Judges:
Sara Shelton Mann, Founder and Artistic Director of Contraband,
Dale Albright, Director of Membership Services, Theater Bay Area.
Lex Leifheit, Executive Director, SOMArts Cultural Center and
David Szlasa, Production Manager/Designer, Z Space.

Confirmed Performers are: Peter Max Lawrence, Anna Martine Whitehead, Rachael Dichter, Jorge Rodolfo De Hoyos Jr., Evan Johnson, Minna Harri, Harold Burns, Pearl Marill, Kirk Read, Jesse Hewit, Jai Arun Ravine, Miriam Wolodarski, Kevin Seaman and more!
