The Spring Splash Reggae Bash 2009 will feature regional Reggae Rockers Dred I Dread, Prince Paul & The Conscious Party, and Chafo. Presented by the same folks who brought you The Great Midwestern Bluegrass Bash, this reggae event celebrates the transition from Spring into Summer with some of the freshest music in the Midwest.

Artists: -- DRED I DREAD -- The name Dred I Dread means “fear my dreadlocks”. Named "Best Reggae Band in Minnesota" by the members of the Minnesota Music Academy, Dred I Dread features fresh talent augmenting the veterans of the band. The musicians that form Dred I Dread infuse traditional Reggae and Roots music with Hip Hop, Dancehall, Jazz, Blues, Rock and even Turkish music for an original mix. --

PRINCE PAUL & THE CONSCIOUS PARTY -- From the hills of Jamaica, front man "Prince" Paul Robinson and Keyboardist Rob Jones of Wisconsin formed The Conscious Party in 2005 with the goal of spreading the LOVE WORLD WIDE with REGGAE. Playing for the People, Prince Paul & The Conscious Party has shared the stage with JOSEPH HILL AND CULTURE, THE ITAL'S, THE MEDITATION'S, SISTER CAROL, THIRD WORLD PLAYING WITH ERIC JOHNSON, and has been heralded as "THE INSPIRATION OF THE REGGAE SCENE IN THE NORTHLAND." With the release of "ONE DROP IN THE WATER," (2008) Prince Paul & The Conscious Party have proven that not only are they an amazing live act, but a force to be reckoned with in the studio as well.

-- CHAFO -- From jazz to dub reggae, funk to latin, Chafo is consistently weaving a changing web of musical sounds and ideas, always looking for the next place to explore. Their live shows are filled with energy, evidenced by the large dancing crowds routinely seen at Chafo shows. Drawing heavy influences from early 70's Funk and Jazz bands such as The Meters, Herbie Hancock, and Freddie Hubbard, Chafo keeps any crowd moving. If Chafo was a stew: Funk would be the broth, Reggae, Blues and Hip-Hop would be the ingredients, and Latin would be the spice. Whatever the occasion or venue, Chafo will be keeping it funky. This special performance will showcase several guest artists as well!
