Join the Young Professionals International Forum (IF) of the World Affairs Council as we explore the symbolism and traditions of Nowruz, a holiday with its roots in Zoroastrianism-the religion of ancient Iran.

Nowruz, celebrated in a large number of countries around the world, marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the New Year. Nazneen Spliedt, President of Zarthoshti Anjuman of Northern California, a non-profit organization serving the Northern California Zoroastrian community, will discuss the significance of Nowruz traditions such as jumping over a bonfire and setting a table with seven items that start with the letter "S" in the Persian alphabet.

The IF reception is a great opportunity to meet people who enjoy learning about and discussing world affairs. If you would like to learn more about the IF and the Council, are curious about what we do, and are looking for opportunities to become involved, the IF Spring Reception is the event for you!
