Many artists' studios in the Mission District of San Francisco
San Francisco, California 94110

April 20-21, noon - 6 pm

The annual event invites art lovers & collectors to follow the red dots on the sidewalk into the working lives & studios of over 200 artists. More artists call The Mission "home" than any place else in the Bay Area, typically displaying their artwork anywhere from public art streetside murals to museums across the globe. True to the neighborhood, the diversity of artwork is vast: painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, photography, charcoal, collage, digital & performance art... all available for enjoyment & purchase directly from the artist during Spring Open Studios 2013 | The Mission. Join us for a weekend of collectively cultivating this vital cutting edge art community.

Spring Open Studios 2013 | The Mission is coordinated by Mission Artists United, a fresh & organic group of artists that first gathered in 2009 to share opportunities, cross-promote & generally relish in all that is awesome about The Mission. MAU is appropriately tech-centric, featuring a website of self-managed artist portfolios: a FREE resource for artists to show their work & connect with other artists, galleries & collectors. In less than 2 years, the group of 10 has flourished to over 500 active users! Members include any artist working in The Mission, home to both of the oldest artist live/work communities in San Francisco (circa 1972), as well as many large group studios for both novice & established working artists. MAU represents a dynamic balance of inclusivity & diversity, with a firm tenet: "Art is the Mission."
