Reeds Award Winning Documentary, Triage: Dr. James Orbinskis Humanitarian Dilemma

Dr.
James Orbinskis professional career and personal insights have made
him into a luminary humanitarian icon, and it is with great honor and
pleasure that D4D presents this unique and intimate opportunity to meet
the man behind the legacy. Dr. Orbinski practices clinical medicine at
St. Michaels Hospital, and he is also an Associate Professor of
Medicine and Political Science at the University of Toronto as well as
a fellow at the Munk Centre for International Studies. In addition, he
is a past International President of Mdecins Sans Frontires (MSF)
(Doctors Without Borders), and co-founder of Dignitas International, an
organization committed to community-based care for people living with
HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis in the developing world. From 2001-2004, Dr.
Orbinski also co-chaired MSFs Neglected Diseases Working Group, which
created and launched the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative.Dr.
Orbinski has served as a field doctor during the famine in Somalia and
the Rwandan genocide, and has also spent time in Afghanistan, Peru and
Zaire amongst other places. In 1999, Dr. Orbinski accepted the Nobel
Peace Prize awarded to MSF for its pioneering approach to medical
humanitarianism and its commitment to witnessing. All proceeds will be donated to a network of hospitals across Somalia/Somaliland.
