The Washington DCJCC's Hyman S. & Freda Bernstein Jewish Literary Festival and the The Chaim Kempner Author Series present Ira Berkow with George Solomon
"Full Swing: Hits, Runs and Errors in a Writer’s Life"
7:30 pm; $8, Discounted Member Price $6
At the Washington DCJCC, 1529 16th Street NW

From nearly striking out on the gritty streets of Chicago’s West Side to hitting a home run to the New York Times sports desk, Pulitzer Prize winner Ira Berkow tells his story of becoming not just a sportswriter, but a writer. In his joyful, moving and often funny memoir, he pays homage to those who pitched in to help a young man adrift find his path: the great sports writer Red Smith, Hall of Fame coach Red Holzman, E. B. White, Muhammad Ali, Saul Bellow, Michael Jordon and many others, including Berkow’s father. Washington Post sports columnist George Solomon joins Berkow in conversation.

Presented in cooperation with the J’s Henry S. Reich Sport & Fitness Center
