Spooky Science at the Museum of Science and Industry! October 24, 2008

Fun, Halloween-themed activities!
Friday, Oct. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 2

In addition to offering FREE general admission on Oct. 31, Halloween, the Museum of Science and Industry is offering some spooky science activities for the Halloween season. Activities are included in general admission:


The Haunted Coal Mine
The Coal Mine will be transformed into a spooky experience.
Dates/Times: Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. (For guests who prefer the traditional Coal Mine experience, normal tours will be offered 2-3 times an hour.)


Get Slimed
Guests will learn how to become a mad scientist and create their own fun green slime. Main Level.
Dates/Times: Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1 from 9:30-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.


Pumpkin Smashing!
Pumpkins will be dropped from the Balcony to the Main Level to teach an eye-opening science lesson.
Dates/Times: Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1 at 11 a.m., 2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m.


Idea Factory Funhouse
For our younger ghouls, The Idea Factory will ramp up the fun with Halloween-themed, science-based crafts.
Dates/Times: Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1 (all day)


Dissecting Eyes at MSI
Guests get the opportunity to dissect a cow eye in this insightful 30-minute experience! Education Lab, Balcony Level 3. Ages 10 and up.
Dates/Times: Oct. 24 – Nov. 2. Select times between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Check Web site.


TemperPanic: Bed of Nails
See what it is like to put your body up against a bed of nails in this 45-minute experience. Watch scientists lie on a bed of nails and explore the points of pressure. Rotunda.
Dates/Times: Every day from Oct. 24-Nov. 2, select times: 11: 30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. Check Web site.


Trick or Treat with Mad Scientists!
The lab coats of Museum “mad” scientists will be filled with candy and other surprises. Throughout the Museum.
Dates/Times: Oct. 31, all day.


Trick or Treat at the Smart Home: Green + Wired
Donate anything recyclable (as little as scrap receipts, maps, etc.) and receive organic candy for your effort to be green.
Dates/Times: Oct. 31, all day.
