Spirit of The Flame Challenge - Pre-Olympic Gymnastics February 29, 2008

600 of the nation's top female gymnasts will compete Feb. 29, March 1 & 2 at West Valley Gymnastics' 5th annual Spirit of The Flame Challenge at The Santa Clara Convention Center. Gymnasts ranging from Level 4 through Elite will challenge each other on floor, bars, beam, and vault for an exciting display of strength, form and flexibility.

Pre-Olympic caliber Level 10 and Elite gymnasts will compete in the Saturday evening session which begins at 5:30 PM.

"Well over a hundred level 9, 10, and Elite gymnasts will participate in this spectacular competition -- once again bringing pre-Olympic athleticism to Bay Area gymnastics fans," says Abra Slater, West Valley Gymnastics Team Director and co-organizer of the West Valley Gymnastics' Spirit of the Flame Challenge.

"We are exited to welcome the expertise of Alexandre Tkatchev, two-time Russian Olympian, and Linda Metheny-Mulvihill, an Elite International Brevet Judge, to this event," adds Slater. "Tkatchev is newly coaching at West Valley Gymnastics and Mulvihill will preside as meet referee."
