Summer is the perfect time to pick-up a new skill. Why not try your hands at cooking?

Kendall College is offering summer classes at varying prices to assist you in your culinary asparations. “Spice Up Your Life!” classes, offered now through August, focus on various skills and summer cooking favorites. From grilling to farmer’s market desserts to cultivating the perfect summer picnic, there is something everyone can enjoy.

Noteable classes include:
• Summer Grilling: Focuses on a variety of ideas for marinades and hands-on grilling of beef, pork, fish and chicken.
• Surf ‘n’ Turf: Learn techniques of working with beef tenderloin and live Maine lobster as part of a delicious meal.
• Grilled Desserts: This class will take your favorite summer-time desserts and adapt them for your next outdoor BBQ.
• Farmers Market Desserts: Participants will learn how to use unusual fruits and what type of dishes you could create with the great selection of fresh herbs and produce at the farmer’s market.
• Spice Up Your Summer Picnic!: In this class, you will learn how to make mayo-less chicken salad with arugula, quinoa salad, a homemade cheese spread and many more summer favorites for that day at the beach or an upcoming concert.
• Spice Up Culinary Skill Boot Camp: You’ll learn about basic cooking equipment and menu planning; knife skills, including vegetable chopping and paring; how to make salads, soups, sauces and vinaigrettes, and other easy no-cook dishes; how to roast garlic; how to grill meats and other foods; and how to make desserts in minutes.
• Summer Pies & Tarts: In this class, you will make an assortment of pies and tarts with the very best of the summer fruit bounty and master the art of pie crust.
